1999 Bentley Hunaudières concept...

 Is it only me... or  the Veyron looks a bit like  this Bentley Hunaudières ?

The Bentley Hunaudières is a concept car built by Bentley for the 1999 Geneva Salon International de l'Auto. It is powered by a Volkswagen 8.0-litre, naturally aspirated, W16 engine that generates 623 brake horsepower (465 kW; 632 PS) of power at 6,000 revolutions per minute and 760 newton metres (560 lb·ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm in conjunction with a five-speed manual transmission. It is capable of a 350 kilometres per hour (220 mph) top speed
Add to this 4 turbos and you have the Veyron engine...!

Name

The Hunaudières' name pays homage to the famous straight of Circuit de la Sarthe where Sir Tim Birkin in a "Blower Bentley" overtook Rudolf Carraciola in a Mercedes-Benz SSK at 125 miles per hour (201 km/h) with one wheel on the grass down the Hunaudières straight.

Production

The concept, along with the similar Audi Rosemeyer, lead to the production of the Bugatti Veyron by parent Volkswagen.

This one here  is an Italian car with with a V8 engine with 600bhp. Does 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds  and its name starts with the letter  "F" and ends with the letters  "...ari". Can you named it...?

Dubai's abandoned Supercars

Among them a Ferrari F40, an Enzo and a Jag XJ220...

Abandoned luxury cars left at airports across the United Arab Emirates may not entirely be the fault of expats escaping tough debt laws.

 

Recent reports have highlighted high-end sports cars gathering dust at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports from panicked expats fleeing the country to avoid prison sentences for money owed.

Images of a  Ferrari Enzo, worth more than £1 million, allegedly abandoned in Dubai by a British expat have been circulated widely. He was believed to have defaulted on a loan for the supercar and fled the city to escape possible imprisonment.

Under Sharia law which is observed across the Middle East, non-payment of debt is a criminal offence. As the UAE has no bankruptcy laws, there is no protection for those slipping into debt, even accidentally.

There have been cases of foreigners being prevented from leaving the Emirates after being blacklisted for simply missing a credit card payment or bouncing a cheque.

It’s very probably the last vehicle on Earth you’d imagine as a taxi, but it must surely rank as one of the coolest. Yes, it’s for promotional purposes and therefore you’re very unlikely to hail the Renault Megane Trophy V6 you see in this clip on L’Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

Doesn’t stop us from wishing we could, though – what’d we give to hear that 400 hp/422 Nm 3.5 litre V6 at full pelt just behind our ears as the World Series car mercilessly doughnuts around the French capital’s Place de la Concorde. A few of its fares, however, clearly seem to be begging for merci.

A comparatively tamer relation is the Renault Megane RS 265 Cup (although still a right scorcher with 265 hp and 360 Nm of twist from its turbocharged 2.0 litre four-pot unit), which launched in Malaysia at the beginning of the year.

Shooting Brake έκδοση του Toyota GT 86; Γιατί όχι σκέφτηκε το Carthrottle και έτσι δημιούργησε στο photoshop αυτές τις δύο φωτογραφίες που κάνουν το Toyobaru να θυμίζει κάτι από Ferrari FF. Οι δημιουργοί των φωτογραφιών αυτών αναφέρουν ότι το μήκος του αυτοκινήτου έχει αυξηθεί κατά 70 mm, με τον χώρο των αποσκευών να αγγίζει πλέον τα 298 λίτρα (243 το GT-86). Με την αναδίπλωση των πίσω καθισμάτων, των οποίων οι πλάτες πέφτουν σε ποσοστό 60:40, ο χώρος αποσκευών αγγίζει τα 1.040 λίτρα.

Τα 0-100 χλμ/ώρα τα κάνει σε 7,8 δευτερόλεπτα (8,5 δευτ με το αυτόματο κιβώτιο) με το βάρος του αυτοκινήτου να αυξάνεται κατά 65 κιλά. Θα ήθελες κάτι τέτοιο να το έβλεπες στην αγορά;
